For over 36 years, New Life Outreach Ministry has been a beacon of hope for those facing life's greatest challenges in Lakeland, Florida.

Our Story

New Life Outreach Ministry was founded with a simple but powerful vision: to provide hope and practical support to those who need it most in our community.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the State of Florida, we have grown from a small local initiative to a comprehensive ministry that touches hundreds of lives each year.

Our work focuses on three key areas: providing permanent housing solutions, offering transitional housing with support services, and helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society.

Our Mission

"Touching the Lives of the Least, the Lost, and the Last"

The mission of New Life is to provide transitional and permanent housing to men, including men with mental and physical disabilities in overcoming life-matters of homelessness and substance abuse. We provide programs of self-sufficiency, independence, and productivity.

New Life Outreach Ministry, Inc. Veterans Re-integration project

On a single night in January 2024, 35,574 veterans were experiencing homelessness. 20,076 veterans were sheltered, while 15,507 we're unsheltered (National Alliance to End Homelessness). 22 veterans commit suicide daily, with occurring roughly every 80 minutes, the number is higher for Special Forces. Data shows 30% of veterans have disabilities as a result of their service, 13-20% are diagnosed with "PTS", and about 30% oof people who served in combat are dealing with "PTS".

Services we Provide:

Regeneration Process

This program is available after orientation and consist of a minimum of nine weeks of intense study on:

• The disease of alcoholism and drug addiction

• The treatment of the disease

• Recovery and aftercare process

• The Twelve Steps

Family Recovery

A six-month program. Clients attend classes that are designed to help bring family members together to deal with effects that chemical dependency has on the family unit. The activities are developed to initiate discussion on subjects such as:

• Detachment

• Forgiveness

• Co-dependency

• Reconciliation

Human Development

The human development phase of thee program prepares clients and family members for a successful return into the home and community. The following training is provided:

• Developing job skills

• Completing job assignments

• Writing resumes

• Marketing job skills

• Developing public relations skills

Mr. Larry Mitchell founded New Life Outreach Ministry, Inc.

Founder Larry Mitchell

Founded in 1989 by Mr. Larry Mitchell, a pharmacist and lawyer who overcame addiction, New Life Outreach Ministry, Inc. is committed to providing a safe haven for individuals facing homelessness and addiction. Inspired by a transformative medical mission trip to Lima, Peru, Mr. Mitchell created New Life with a mission to serve the "Least, Last, and Lost"—those often overlooked and underserved by society.

Today, New Life operates seven houses that offer a variety of services, including shelter, meals, clothing, personal necessities, addiction treatment, job training, and career assistance. The Ministry’s goal is to empower individuals to regain their independence, heal from addiction, and reintegrate into society with dignity and self-sufficiency.
